As a licensed psychologist and performance coach, I collaborate with you to develop a personalized plan aligned with your needs and aspirations. Session frequency and duration are flexible and determined together.

Session Locations & Availability

Virtual sessions
Dr. Avellar and Jenna Armstrong provides virtual services to clients in Pennsylvania and New York. Dr. Avellar also holds a PSYPACT credential, which allows him to provide services in most U.S. states.

In-person
Limited in-person sessions are available when working with Dr. Avellar at his office in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Mindful sports performance enhancement (MSPE)

What is MSPE?
Developed by The MSPE Institute, MSPE® is a high impact mindfulness training program for performers who want to win more often and perform with greater consistency. In just six structured sessions, you learn proven mental skills adapted from the gold standard MBSR program to sharpen attention, reduce stress, and elevate execution under pressure.

What you will learn
Each session provides practical tools you can use immediately, guiding you from foundational exercises to mindfulness in motion. Techniques are applied directly to your performance demands—your swing, stride, serve, stage presence, or leadership moments.

How MSPE helps you improve
MSPE gives you a clear and repeatable daily routine, allowing you to train your mind with the same discipline you bring to your work or physical task. It is fully customizable for any sport or performance arena and can be delivered in groups or individually.
